XTC English Settlement (2019 UK/EU limited edition 15-track double album 2-LP, remastered and approved by Andy Partridge and pressed on 200-gram Super-Heavyweight Vinyl. Originally released in 1982, English Settlement stands as awatershed work in XTC's catalogue - bridging the gap between their earlier jagged, frenetic new wave sound and the more pastoral, refined, and ambitious music they would go on to create. Recorded during a period of personal and professional upheaval, the album arrived just before Andy Partridge's stage fright forced the band to abandon touring, and before the departure of drummer Terry Chambers. Yet, despite - or perhaps because of - this instability, XTC crafted one of their finest and most enduring works. This 2019 limited edition pressing was remastered and approved by Andy Partridge, and is cut from the original half-inch master tapes discovered during the search for multitracks for Steven Wilson's proposed surround mixes. Mastering engineer John Dent cut new lacquers for this definitive audiophile presentation, pressed on 200-gram super-heavyweight vinyl across two LPs.
