DILLINGER CB200 (1976 Mango/Island issue 10-track vinyl
LP of Lester Bullock's classic reggae LP, recorded in Kingston
Jamaica and released internationally for Chris Blackwell's
Island label, featuring the single Cokane In My Brain. The
picture sleeve has only minor general storagewear and the
vinyl is in excellent condition! See more info)
TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATION
Named after the make and model number of his Honda motorcycle (in a bid to outdo Big Youth's S.90 Skank, a tribute to a lower-ranked model), C200 was Dillinger's first internationally released album gaining him critical success, primarily for the surprise hit Cokane In My Brain, a wry comment on the New York lifestyle of the 70s that adopted the rhythm to B.T. Express' Do It [Til You're Satisfied] to ironic effect. Although in debt to fellow Kingston-deejays and mentors Dennis Alcapone, U-Roy and the new militant 'dreader than dread' direction pioneered by Big Youth, Dillinger had a unique and individual style of 'toasting' all his own; laced with quick-witted and clever observations (evident on Buckingham Palace, where the Aristocracy's outmoded approach to the Rastafarian way of life is made light of), Dillinger's quirky jive-talk and sound-system repartee was. in hindsight, a natural precursor to the hip-hop culture that dominates the US mainstream pop charts today.
